The name of Kedisan Village holds significant historical value, though the exact details remain unconfirmed due to the absence of ancient manuscripts. According to local legends and the “Arya Wang Bang Sidemen” lontar from K. Sudarsana’s collection, the village’s origins date back to I Gusti Kacang Dawa (Ida Penataran) who married Ni Gusti Ayu Bringkit, a descendant of Shri Nararya Kepakisan. They had two sons, I Gusti Ngurah Dimade and I Gusti Ngurah Bija.
In 1523 AD, due to conflicts in the Gelgel Kingdom, I Gusti Kacang Pawos left his territory and arrived at Aan Klungkung Village, where he was welcomed by Ki Pasek Katrangan. After living there for five years, he decided to leave and was accompanied by Ki Pasek Katrangan in search of a safer place to settle. They eventually arrived at a dense forest area rich with birds, naming it Kedisan, derived from “Kedis” (bird in Balinese).
Officially established in 1541 AD, Kedisan Village became the administrative center, comprising 7 banjar (hamlets): Tangkup, Kebon, Pakudui, Bayad, Kedisan Kaja, Kedisan Kelod, and Cebok. The inhabitants of Kedisan are not Bali Mula/Bali Aga people but migrants from Gelgel-Semarapura, marking the village’s unique historical roots.
